Approximately 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the state, producing strong winds topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Hailstones and Widespread Damage

Damp conditions were expected to linger along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was expected to become the most rainy day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential predicted across multiple regions of both states.

Health officials cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
